Phil Mickelson is in the limelight once again. The six-time major championship winner was the talk of the town in Greg Normans’ recent interview. Greg on Wednesday announced the schedule for the LIV Golf Invitational and also spoke about the Lefty in his interview. He even addressed other professionals as well.

Greg Norman speaks about Phil Mickelson

The Lefty was recently in the limelight and received backlash for his comments on the PGA Tour and on the Saudi Regime. Phil who decided to take some time off from golf, was one of the famous professionals about whom Greg Norman spoke about. On Wednesday, Norman revealed the schedule for the breakaway tour, which kick starts its season at Centurion Club in London.

Greg Norman spoke about Phil in an interview with BBC and also revealed, “We’re 100 percent additive to the world of golf and the players can play both tours.”

He said, “If they want to play then the door is wide open and the door is also wide open for Phil Mickelson. I spoke to him last night and had a good, long conversation. There’s not a person on this planet that hasn’t said something that they wish they could take back.”

He added, “You’ve got to be able to allow the individuals and the players to have choice and we’ll give them the choice to do that. If they don’t want to come, so be it. I’m not stopping them and I’m not saying they’re going to be banned for life if you don’t do it – it’s their choice.” [h/t skysports.com]

 With the schedule for the eight-event series out, it will be really interesting to see how Phil and other professionals who yet have not taken a stand about staying with the PGA Tour react to Gregs’ comments.

What repercussions will be handed out if they join the SGL?

PGA Tour has maintained a clear and firm stance over the players joining or having an alliance with the SGL. It was made clear that if a player joins the Saudi-backed golf league, they would face a temporary suspension. This could potentially turn into a lifetime ban. It will be really interesting to see how many professionals join the rival tour.
