Henrik Stenson made his debut for the LIV Golf in the latest event in Bedminster. Much to everyone’s surprise, the Swedish golfer won it. Several golfers and famous personalities acknowledged his victory, including the son of the Former President of the United States Donald Trump, who made a tweet to congratulate him.

Henrik Stenson defeated the 48-player field on Sunday to win the third LIV Golf Invitational Series contest at Trump National Bedminster in Bedminster, New Jersey. The former European Ryder Cup player won in his LIV Golf debut after being able to ignore the early-week commotion and concentrate completely on his game to get there.

Donald Trump Jr, whose father Donald Trump has been directly involved in the elevation of the LIV Golf, hailed Stenson. He also had a message for Team Europe, who removed the Swedish golfer, as their team captain following his move to LIV Golf.

After Henrik Stenson putt in the last hole, Trump Jr tweeted the video of Stenson’s winning moment. With the video, the son of the ex-president had a message for all the haters of the lucrative Tour.

Trump Jr wrote, “The greatest F/U in the history of Golf just happened. Awesome job @henrikstenson!!!” Since the beginning of the big money series, members of the Trump family have been outspoken fans of LIV Golf. The former President participated in the pro-am with Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau before the Bedminster event, along with another of his sons, Eric.

Stenson’s move to the Saudi-backed Tour last month was clouded in controversy. As a result of joining the Saudi-backed series, he was relieved of his duties as Ryder Cup captain. After his big win in Bedminster, the 46-year-old golfer couldn’t resist firing shots at Team Europe by saying, “played like a captain”.

Despite the controversy surrounding his decision to join LIV, it didn’t appear to bother Stenson too much. Stenson played his best golf in years, opening with a 7-under-par 64. He clenched his two-shot triumph with back-to-back 69s, closing the 54-hole competition at 11-under.

More Trump-owned courses may be set to host events after LIV Golf’s massive growth plans were revealed last week. This year’s season finale will take place at Trump National Doral in October in addition to the Bedminster tournament that just ended. The weekend brought reports that Trump’s course in Ireland could also host a tournament in 2023.
