Last year’s winner Gaby Lopez, who stole the admiration of the audience, is likely to be seen this year defending her title. Along with past champions, there would also be new faces competing against each other on this highly prestigious ground.
As per the power rankings, Allisen Corpuz, the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open champion at Pebble Beach is the top-ranked player to have been selected. Alongside her will be Jin Young Ko, who catered her expertise by being a consistent performer all season.
Another one to notice on the field is world no. 3, Lydia Ko, who is known for her calculated approach, and it is to see if her methodology gets her the win this year.
This 17th event of the 2023 LPGA Tour will have a 72-hole game with a cut to the top 65, and there will be ties after 36 holes.
The purse and prize money distribution
This championship has been in place since 1984. As compared to last year, there has been no change in the prize money this year. The event has a purse of $1.75 million, with the winner receiving around $262,500, which doesn’t meet the standard 15% percent payout as per LPGA Tour prize money distribution.
But other than the paycheck, the winner will also have other perks like 500 race to the CME Globe points and other added benefits as well, like a two-year exemption in the LPGA Tour and berths into other big tournaments.
