Is unlimited funding the real reason behind LIV golfers' happiness, as Trump suggests?

What comes to your mind when you hear LIV Golf? We are sure that never-ending drama surrounding the league also pops up. It is undeniable that the PGA Tour has lost many of its great talents such as Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, and most recently, Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton to the Saudi-backed league. And the golfers who have switched to LIV claim they’ve never been happier.

Take Jon Rahm, for example. Fed up with fans’ allegations of not being happy on the LIV Golf, the golfer recently said, I don’t know why they feel the need to say that some of us are unhappy when we’re not.” When the same argument pops up in a room, it all primarily comes down to one thing: the money! And even former U.S. President Donald Trump agrees.

In a recent interview with the PGA Memes YouTube channel, Trump was seen talking to Travis Miller about many things such as his father and LIV. As per Trump, the LIV golfers are thrilled, and it’s no surprise, given the lucrative money they get, and the lighter schedule they get to follow throughout the season. Even when Rahm defected, he mentioned that this move would help him spend more time with his family.

“They’re all happy on LIV. Well, they’ve got unlimited funding, I can tell you,”  said Trump. And we can’t argue. The game of golf had never seen anything like LIV Golf before. A $2 billion investment from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has elevated LIV Golf into the spotlight and has changed the face of the sport forever.

Trump believes even those loyal to the traditional Tour can’t resist the lure of a hefty paycheck. Not only the money, but the Saudi-backed league has done so much more for the innovation of the sport. “And they’ve done some really great things like music; you know they never had music today; 70% of the people, they’re playing music on the course,”  Trump further said, and we’re sure you remember the epic Spotify playlist released earlier this year.

LIV Golf took its music game to the next level with the launch of its Spotify account, which featured playlists that reflected the regional culture of each tournament location. The playlists were titled ‘PreGolf’ and ‘In-Play’ and were designed to enhance the fan experience and help them enjoy the game a lot better. And that is the reason why a lot of players, including Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, came forward, saying thank you to their league.
