Three starts, three top-10 finishes, and yet zero wins in 2024. Victory tastes sweet but Xander Schauffele was once again deprived of experiencing that very sweetness and earning his eighth PGA Tour title by just a few strokes at the Torry Pines Golf Course.
Schuaffele, though, claimed himself as a “good putter” he couldn’t capitalize on his skills. After missing the title again, the 7-time PGA Tour winner reveals the reason behind his struggling round at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Matthieu Pavon won the Farmers Insurance Open, whereas Xander Schauffele was just four strokes behind the Frenchman. In the last three starts at the Sentry, AmEx, and now the Farmers Insurance Open, Schauffele’s result for 2024 looks something like this: T10, T3, and T9.
The three runs of the 7-time PGA Tour winner reveal more or less a similar pattern from last year’s season. Though Schauffele played his best, he shared one thing that got to his head. After the final round, Schauffele was asked if it was his putter that caused him a problem.
Xander Schauffele Legion went on to share an excerpt from an interview with the 7-time PGA Tour winner, wherein he is addressing his putting. The 30-year-old recalled that he made some “good putts” in round three but then went on to experience “a couple of misreads.” He couldn’t point out what was wrong but said, “It was myself or the greens or whatever, but it definitely got in my head.” The tweet mentioned Schauffele’s stats from the final 2 rounds, which also included his “Strokes Gained Putting” which came in at “-3.87 (4th to last).”
Xander Schauffele's official stats for the final 2 rounds at the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open:
Strokes Gained Putting: -3.87 (4th to last)

Through three events, Schauffele’s finishes are better than most on the PGA Tour. The seven-time PGA Tour winner was looking a bit disappointed as he didn’t win the event. Continuing on his putting, he stated that the mess-up was so bad that he couldn’t “clutch up and make anything” out of the event. In the past few days, Schauffele has been brutally honest about his game and PGA Tour future, and the 7-time winner of the Tour did not hesitate to criticize Jay Monahan.

Xander Schauffele will not pledge to the Tour
Time and again, the rumors of Xander Schauffele joining the breakaway league have swirled around the golf world, but the PGA Tour pro has repeatedly put those rumors to rest. But it looks like the 30-year-old has a rather unique take on the whole LIV golf and PGA Tour matter. During his recent appearance on the Fore Play podcast, the Californian golfer stated that he is not going to LIV Golf but he wouldn’t pledge to the PGA Tour either.

“I am not going to pledge ‘I’m going to play [PGA Tour] forever’,” said Schauffele. He further focused on the present and said that he is currently pursuing the Tour, “which is just a fact.” Schauffele may not go to LIV but he had relayed his distrust of the Tour leadership and said he “wouldn’t mind seeing mind” a new leadership replacing Jay Monahan. Schauffele’s honesty may have him in hot waters but the 7-time moves as he truly feels. Will he finally win the eighth victory of his career at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM next week?
