Looking from afar, one will perceive that the 2023 season was a disappointing one for LIV Golf defector Cameron Smith. He did not win either the individual title or the $50 million team event, LIV Golf Miami.

The 1x Major champion might not have big titles in his bag this year, but he surely acquired something way more precious than such accolades would bring. A reel shared by Smith’s LIV team, Ripper GC, showed a compilation of those moments.

In October 2023, Talor Gooch was crowned with the LIV Golf individual title, with three wins. With two victories and 170 points, Cameron Smith trailed behind and sufficed himself with the second rank on LIV Golf’s year-end standing.

A little disheartening to go titleless for a season, isn’t it? However, he filled those empty spaces with his kindness. Ripper GC posted a compilation of Smith and teammate Marc Leishman, greeting the fans at various LIV Golf events on the occasion of World Kindness Day.

The video beautifully captured both golfers interacting and appreciating the fans’ presence and cheer. The clips show Smith giving a glove to a young fan, while playing with another, and Leishman giving away autographed balls, or both players taking pictures with fans where possible.

The Instagram video has reached the right audience. As LIV Golf players get brutally criticized on any opportunity people get, the clippings showcased a sweet and hidden side to the golfers that usually gets overlooked. No, signing a ball or taking selfies are not the biggest gestures. However, a little goes a long way. These small gestures probably made a fan’s day much better. Here are a few people who loved the video and reacted.

What could be better than getting praised by your fans? A titleless year has nothing on Smith, as the “Cam smith is a very nice guy” compliment is perfect to replace that.

The kids loved Smith playing and interacting with them; their smiles were proof. This fan noticed it and remarked, “And look at the smiles. On the kids too.”

A story that never got out – this woman experienced kindness through Leishman and decided to share it with the world. “So true! I followed Leishman a lot at the Adelaide tournament and he gave every kid a high-5 and fist bump all the way through his rounds. He was out in the autograph zone first and stayed until everyone had their turn and got their selfie. Was so genuine with every single person. His kindness was well and truly noticed. What a great role model for the kids! 🙌”
