Greg Norman’s efforts to rebrand the Saudi-backed circuit, LIV Golf League, are working. Charles Howell III, a new league member, has become the recent talk of the town. After performing in the first event of LIV Golf 2023 in Mexico, he is part of every headline. He has opened many other doors to opportunity for himself. However, he received criticism since he was on the PGA Tour and left behind his legacy to join the rival Tour. But now the question is, after his success, are the golf fans with him?
Is Charles Howell III the new shining star of the LIV Golf League?
Many new faces joined the LIV Golf League this year, but one is attracting attention. Dan Rapaport posted an update about the LIV defector in his latest tweet. It read, “Charles Howell III won a combined $2.75 million from his 3 PGA Tour wins in 609 starts. About to win in his 6th LIV Golf start and make a combined $4.75 million from individual and team win.” It is sure a milestone for the former number nine golfer on the PGA Tour money list of 2002.

The 42-year-old golfer from Augusta, Georgia, talked to Associated Press after his performance. He said, “It’s great. It’s a big win, and we got the team win.” And putting light on some facts, the Augusta-based golfer has only won thrice in 23 seasons and 607 starts while on the PGA Tour. His beginner’s luck has been very strong, given the details stated in the tweet by Rapaport. But did the fans take note of this achievement?
Did the golf world celebrate with the LIV defector?
The fans were not as excited as one would have expected. They were unhappy that Howell left behind the legacy and history of years for joining a league. Most of the comments showed that they did not care about this update. And the others were still favoring the PGA Tour. People pointed out that his wins have been on the American Tour, and the victory on LIV Golf was nothing to be glorified. Take a look at some of the comments from the golf world. Which will tell you what they are exactly feeling about Howell III.
Just proves how mediocre the play is on LIV, guy has a 1/203 conversion rate and goes to play against the mostly washed up field on LIV and wins on 6th try. Smdh

Good for him. I always rooted for him on tour.

“We are and always will be focused on legacy, not leverage”
🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴PGA has no leverage. Golf’s popularity is at an all time high. The players and viewers recognize the STARVATION for change. The PGA will slowly insert certain aspects from LIV into its operations.

Good for guys like him who couldn’t win anymore on the big tour

And no one cares as everyone's fixated between a 34 year old rookie going for his first win and a journeyman who hasn't won in 8 years. This is what it's all about.

Why do you think it’s important to say how much Howell won while on the PGA Tour?
— Freight (@freighttrainnn) February 26, 2023
Why don’t you put CH3 career earnings? 2.75 from his 3 tour wins doesn’t do him justice for how good of a career he’s had on tour

Just about everything went wrong for LIV this weekend. Washed up Howell wins. Honda in a playoff. Even the LPGA was more compelling this weekend.
