The Omega European Masters is taking place in Switzerland and the parents’ nightmare is well underway. Two European stars are fighting neck and neck but they have a lot more in common than just the desire for a title and a $54,000 reward at the $2.7 million event.

Alex and Matt Fitzpatrick have been quickly rising to fame this season. The two brothers may not be the only siblings playing against each other on golf courses but they certainly make an interesting pair. Older brother Matthew Fitzpatrick has won 8 tournaments on the DP World Tour and 2 on the PGA Tour, setting an example for his younger brother.

Now, both siblings are playing together at the Omega European Masters. When asked how it feels to battle against his sibling for a title, Alex Fitzpatrick provided some insight. “It’s weird competing for a tournament,” he admitted to a reporter at the DP World Tour event. He explained that the brothers who are 4 years apart never competed during their junior tournaments.

It seems that since the younger Fitzpatrick brother turned pro in 2022, it is a strange predicament for them. “It’s gonna be a nightmare for my parents,” the older Fitzpatrick sibling shared. It seems their parents really wouldn’t know which one of them to support for the title. After all, Alex Fitzpatrick is still awaiting his maiden win while Matt Fitzpatrick still has a slim shot at the Ryder Cup.

The two brothers have been on a good streak at OEM 2023 and it is turning out to be an interesting battle of siblings.

The fight for the title is interesting, but what’s even more exciting is the close score they have after round 2. Matt Fitzpatrick who ranks 8th on the OWGR shot a 63 in round 1, while his brother shot a 65. In round 2, Alex Fitzpatrick maintained his 65 average while his older brother joined him with the same score. The Fitzpatrick brothers are leading the scoreboard at the beginning of round 3.

The older Fitzpatrick brother has a 12-under par in first place while his brother is in second place with 10-under par. More than the competition against their peers, the twist in the otherwise brotherly love has made the Omega European masters all the more enticing for fans.
