However, some retired golf legends have also made outstanding records during their prime years. And a shining star from those legends, Jackie Burke Jr. celebrated his 100th birthday yesterday!

Jackie Burke Jr. turns 100 in style

The world is celebrating as Houston-based golf star Jackie Burke Jr. sees an entire century with his own eyes! The legend, who also has two major championships in his name, celebrated his 100th birthday yesterday along with his wife in the presence of family and friends. It was a massive occasion for the fans as the World Golf Hall of Famer crossed a huge milestone.

Despite consistent rains, several people showed up at the celebration to greet the former golfer. Burke won his fans’ hearts by claiming victory at the Masters and the PGA Championship in 1956. And to celebrate his memorable 100 years, Clay Walker sang “Happy Birthday” to the golf ace.

Golf Hall of Fame member Ben Crenshaw accompanied Walker at the event where they all discussed cheerful memories of their friendship with Burke. They even talked about the golfer’s bond with Bing Crosby.

The dining was filled with guests to an extent that there was eventually a shortage of tables and chairs. To add life to the night, Butch Harmon, Jim McLean, and Steve Elkington said a few words in Burke’s honor.

Jackie turning 100 is even more essential to the fans, as he is the first major champion to have lived for 100 years. The secret to his great health? He hasn’t touched alcohol in 50 years. “I know a car driver (A.J. Foyt). He drove race cars, lives in Houston,” he said. “He told me he runs some cars on alcohol. That day was my last drink.”

The former professional golfer earned a name for himself with his commendable performances on his golfing days! Along with his major victories, Burke also won 17 times on the PGA Tour and became the Player of the Year in 1952. The golf legend has had a pretty long journey on the field. And currently, he is enjoying his life off the course with his family!
