Golf is not a stranger to uncommon sights. From streakers running around naked on the course during championship games to raccoons taking over the golf course and forcing a match to stop, the sport seems to have seen it all. And yet another shocking sight on a course in the Sunshine State now has the golfers shaken to their core. They were taken back in time to the Jurassic Age and possibly scarred for life by what they recently witnessed.
A scary sight on a Florida golf course
Recently, a photograph of a humongous crocodile on a golf course in Florida staring right at the photographer went viral. Rich Louty was the man who seems to have put his life on the line to grab a picture of the vicious beast. At a golf course in Sebring, while others trembled in fear, Louty snapped a photo of the huge crocodile staring right at him.

The scary image soon went viral with the viewers scared of just looking at it online. Louty certainly is one brave soul! Matt Devitt, the Chief Meteorologist at WINK, shared the photo too. Taking a break from forecasting the weather, Devitt took to Facebook and wrote, “Welcome to Florida, home to Jurassic Park.”

Devitt wasn’t entirely wrong in his assessment, either. After all, Florida is home to nearly 1.25 million alligators. And they do occasionally find their way onto golf courses. Of course, this does not make it any less terrifying! But fortunately, golfers are not part of their staple diet, and they would much rather feast on fish, birds, and smaller mammals. Had that not been the case, the Florida courses may have had to add in another hazard altogether to spice up the game.
How big was the spotted alligator?
The size of this particular crocodile spotted relaxing on the course was not known exactly. But the largest recorded beast in Florida currently stands at 14 ft. and 3.5 in. in length and weighs 1043 pounds. It’s not that hard to tell why no one tried to measure and weigh this one now, is it?

It isn’t the first time The Sunshine State has seen alligators come out on the course to relax either. In November 2020, as per reports, a gigantic gator was spotted at the Valencia Golf and Country Club in Naples, Fl, during Hurricane Eta. Perhaps the Florida courses should look into adding them on as members!
