The golf world has witnessed the birth of many stars who have done everything in their capacity to push the game forward. Lee Trevino is one such man, a retired professional American golfer, who is regarded as one of the best in the world.

With 29 wins on the PGA tour, he was inducted into the world golf hall of fame in 1981. Moreover, he is one of only four players to have won the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and the Open Championship twice. However, he has never donned the green jacket to add to his major bag of 6 titles.

Affectionately called ‘The Merry Mex’ and ‘Super Mex’, he is of Mexican ancestry. A former caddie, he picked up the sport with just a couple of balls and an old club given to him by his uncle. Since then, he has come an immensely long way. And today, we celebrate with him his 82nd birthday!

Twitter wishes Lee Trevino as he turns 82!

Sweet and congratulatory messages have flooded Twitter on this special day. Many even took to reminiscing the old days and sharing some memories from the past. GOLF.com shared an old video of him sharing his golf tips, while the official U.S. Open page shared a hilarious video from way back in 1971 of Trevino pranking Jack Nicklaus with a fake snake! Gary Player, a legendary golfer who played during the same time as Trevino, wrote a delightful message along with the sweetest pictures of the two. He wrote, “Few friends make me laugh as much as this friend. Happy birthday to Lee Trevino, here’s to another year of laughter, fun, and hopefully many more rounds together.”

Arnold Palmer, ‘The king’, too took to Twitter to wish his old friend.
