Walking on a similar path was Greg Norman. A former part of the International team, Norman took to his Twitter saying, “Outside of all this angst – golf is golf, competition is competition; something every golfer thrives on. Norman has been a victim of utmost criticism ever since LIV Golf. However, that wasn’t the case this time. Unlike the previous tweets from Norman, this one pulled in support from the golf world. Learning about Trevor’s reply, fans expressed their disapproval.
You are an embarrassment to the Presidents Cup.
Your team is about to be on the wrong end of a historical loss, but at least you were able to get joke in on Twitter and continue to feed an unnecessary divide in the sport.

No Offense but you should be upset with Jay Monahan and not Greg Norman. Jay should never had disallowed players from playing no matter what tour. If their play earned their way on the team they should have been allowed. Stop blaming the players blame Monahan

Mr Immelman, it wasn’t Greg who banned your best players.

Less LOL on Twitter and maybe more focus to try to not get embarrassed like everyone assumes will happen. So far not a good start. Back to the booth Trev

How’s that comment working out for you Clever Trevor! How’s the international team doing so far?
— Douglas Austen (@douglasausten01) September 23, 2022
Several social media users questioned his response.
Trevor, you've won 2 PGA tournaments in your career. How are you even a captain?
— yungkuch (@YungKuch) September 23, 2022
This is such a disgraceful look. How in earth were you named captain. No wonder the team is getting flogged
— Crypto Nerd (@CryptoNerd_2017) September 23, 2022
Ah- Trevor— you are an embarrassment as a captain for your yellowness in not standing up to your employer for not allowing you to choose the best team of international golfers to represent you and the international golfing fraternity! A cardboard cut out of a captain!!
