Golf is one of the most popular sports in the world. Even though the game looks simple for viewing, it is one of the most complicated and frustrating games to play. And we recently saw the actual representation of this at the River Valley Golf Course during the Girls 3A State Golf Tournament.

The pin location on the final hole was diabolic. The average score on this hole was +4, which is astonishing. We can see golfers making the putt, but the slope took the ball to the fringe. Even when players just tapped the ball, the severe slope ensured that the ball goes off the green.
Additionally, while putting against the slope, there was a steep uphill. Hence, if the putt did not have enough speed, the ball would again trickle down from the green. Therefore, this was one of the most unfair pin locations, and this final green made the scorecards of all golfers look dismal.
Not sure if you can tell from this picture, but this is without a doubt the most difficult pin placement I’ve seen in my life of playing and watching golf.
I’ve seen numerous 10 putts and I would guess that the average score is at a sextuple bogey (+6). #iahsgolf pic.twitter.com/rSXnxtSdsr

Meanwhile, there was no chance for any golfer to make a par unless the ball went inside the hole in one putt. Therefore, we see plenty of people reacting to this on social media. We can see how all the players are facing difficulties while making the putt in the video that has been going viral on Twitter.
Golf world reacts to the viral video from the High school state championship
According to Jake Brend, the average score on that hole was around +4. However, he also reported that some golfers took 10-putts to complete the hole. Additionally, it took over nine and half hours to complete the round, while the groups spent over 20 minutes on the final 18th green alone.
Jake also revealed that Girls High School Athletic Union was not in charge of the pin location. Meanwhile, whoever set the pin location has some explaining to do. Moreover, Rylee Heryford ultimately won the event, and she only carded a bogey on the strenuous hole. So here’s what the golfing world thinks about the whole situation.
That hole belongs on a crazy golf course. The grass should have been cut to a lower stimp in my opinion. Some of those putts got to within a foot from the pin and rolled off the green. I’m surprised there weren’t a few snapped putters in shot

Completely disagree about this being unfair. Reading the green is part of the game. Sometimes it's more difficult than others. Unless it's utterly impossible, which from what I see it's not, then it's entirely fair.

This was heartbreaking to watch yesterday. It had NOTHING to do with reading a green. Our kids waited 45 min to even tee off on that hole. Putting took up to 30 min for a group. Took my daughter from 3rd place to 8th. She will still play in college. it will not define her!

The real problem is how far I had to scroll down to see a comment on green speed. Sure the pin is suspect, but the real culprit is speed , which neuters interesting placements and design at best, and creates situations like this at worst.

If you’re a #golfer u can relate, from reading comments this was just bad judgement by whoever was in charge of this pin placement, hearing +4 to +8 over par was common scores! Also thinking 18th hole, so that would be a great finish ⛳️ unless u we’re in contention and 4-10 putt https://t.co/AaWaLOVNmw

From Iowa…Wow! This is ridiculous. I get a tough set up but this is borderline cruel. https://t.co/KJEU0lXoL2

My putter would be buried to the grip after my second try and that’s a promise https://t.co/u8PAnKTeLi
