Graeme McDowell plays on both the DP World Tour as well as on the PGA Tour. Moreover, he is the 2010 US Open Champion, making him one of the best professional golfers. This week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, McDowell is part of the field. Notably, the Irishman made a huge putt for a birdie in his opening round at TPC Scottsdale, and Twitter can’t stop reacting.

McDowell is just into his third event of the 2022 PGA Tour season. He finished at tied 40th position at the American Express with a score of 10 under par. However, the Irishman stole the show at the 2022 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Twitter reacts to Graeme McDowell making a long putt

McDowell drained a huge birdie put at the short par four 17th. The hole only measures 348 yards. However, for the short hitters, if they land their second shot a bit short, it can be quite a long putt on a huge green.

The long green did not pose any such issues for Graeme. The Irish professional drained an 80 feet long putt on the 17th hole. The crowd screamed after he sank his putt and he himself was seen laughing as he went to pick his ball from the cup.

The line was not an issue with the putt being long. However, the ball had stopped gathering pace and just made its last roll into the hole resulting in a birdie. Not bad for a 42-year-old.

McDowell’s round one summary

Graeme opened his 2022 WM Phoenix Open with a three-under-par, 68. His first nine included two birdies and the rest all were pars, as a result, making the turn in two-under-par, 33. The back nine included two birdies and one bogey on the 18th hole. McDowell is currently four shots off the lead.
