Phil Mickelson had made some controversial comments about the Saudi League, to which he later apologized through a letter. The golfer had mentioned taking a break from everything on it. However, Lefty didn’t disclose the time of his return to golf and social media.
A new tweet from Dan Rapaport of Golf Digest revealed that Mickelson might not attend this year’s The PLAYERS Championship.
Phil Mickelson has yet to register for the Players Championship. With the field locking at 5 p.m. EST, it is looking increasingly like Lefty will not be teeing it up next week at TPC Sawgrass.

According to the writer, the registration for the event is until 5 pm, and Mickelson hasn’t registered himself for it. “Phil Mickelson has yet to register for the Players Championship,” Dan tweeted. “it is looking increasingly like Lefty will not be teeing it up next week at TPC Sawgrass.”
The PLAYERS Championship will begin on the 10th of March. As usual, the Players Stadium Course will host this year’s event.
The relationship of the PLAYERS Championship with Phil Mickelson
Mickelson had been nothing but incredible as a golfer throughout his career. He has won more than 45 PGA Tour events, including 6 major championships. However, his relationship with the PLAYERS has not been really well; He has only won the tournament once in his career.
According to Mickelson, the Masters is much easier than that of the PLAYERS. “When you go to Augusta, I feel like I don’t have to be perfect, and so I end up making better swings,” Lefty said in an interview.
“And then you get out here (PLAYERS), and the fairways are tight, the rough is thicker, and then I start to steer it, and I start to make some horrific swings.”

Mickelson hasn’t yet registered for the 2022 edition of the event. And the news had made the golf world restless over it.
Twitter reactions to the news!
Apparently, the golf world is currently torn between the people who think the golfer had taken a break from it and the people who think the PGA Tour has suspended him.
His "time away" is probably code for suspended… Wouldn't expect to see him until Augusta at the earliest

Can’t register if your suspended…

Probably needs to clear up and clean up a few things before thinking about golf, wouldn’t ya think 🤔 He said he was taking a break. Give him that

When he said he was taking time away I don’t think he ever meant 1 week off

Wonder if he was suspended or asked to take a sabbatical
