The 24-year-old spent the first three rounds lurking under the top performers, not quite finding his rhythm. However, it all worked out in the end. His outstanding form shone through as he played a ruthless back-nine with five birdies to claim the top spot. Moreover, as the pressure snuck up on the rest, Morikawa’s mental strength brought out the best in him and led him to victory.
Meanwhile, Rory’s McIlroy’s form went totally haywire as the overnight leader witnessed three bogeys in the last four holes to finish a disappointing T-6. Amazing performances led Matt Fitzpatrick and Alexander Bjork to finish three strokes behind Morikawa, T-2.

Collin Morikawa wins the DP World Tour Championship
Just a couple of days ago, Morikawa became the fifth American to win honorary lifetime membership of the European Tour as he won the Open Championship on his first start. And now, he has scripted his name as the first American winner of the DP World Tour.
Moreover, it has been a whirlwind of a year for the world number 2. In just his third year as a professional; he has 5 PGA Tour wins to his name, 3 European Tour wins, and now the year long race to Dubai title. And on his way, he has broken several records and established himself as the best.
In a post win interview, he said, “It’s very special and an honour. To be the first American to do that [win the money list], to put my name against many greats, hall of famers, it’s special.”
Nevertheless, fans on twitter weren’t entirely happy with this win. While acknowledging his great game, they were upset at the fact that an American won the climax of the European Tour. Here is what some of them said-
I feel very sorry for the players who play all the time on the European Tour! A player who played just 2 events scoops the big prize; the poor journeymen are left scratching their heads! Is this fair?

After playing 3 regular European Tour events? 😴😴

Well played Collin. What a player!!
But definitely think an alternative order of merit should be introduced that only considers earnings from European tour regular events 2 give those players something 2 compete for rather be pushed out by co-sanctioned events that they cant play— ⛳️🏌️♂️ (@TW82_15) November 21, 2021
Congratulations Collin on a great win and awesome season. You’ve joined a elite group with Seve Ballesteros and Tiger Woods. European tour championship winner and 2 majors by 24
