The Skylinks at Buchanan Fields is a family-centric 9-hole course located in Concord, California. The course was established in 1955 and designed by the renowned Robert Muir Graves. It also serves as a community club that brings golfers of all skill levels together. A seemingly peaceful place. Or is it?

Recently, the course took to Instagram to bring forth an issue that has been plaguing them for some time. The issue was pretty simple. Two couples were using their parking spot as a way to carry forth their illicit affair. The course owners, when they found out about the incident, did something that gained notoriety and support from golfing fans all over the world. Yes, all over the world. They took to Instagram to detail their plight.

The post, which was titled “!! PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!,” had the following note attached as an image to it. The note read, “To the late 30’s married wife in the black car who’s having a secret affair with the guy in the smaller silver car who’ve decided to use the back right corner of our Skylinks car park to meet weekly on the same day at xx.30 am next to the workshop and recycling dumpster where you ‘THINK’ no one is watching—PLEASE STOP.”

However, the note did not stop at the request. It mutated into a subtle threat, which then mutated into a genuine piece of advice for the people involved in the incident. “If it happens again, we’ll drop the footage and watch all hell break loose. We’re a family golf course—NOT some Jerry Springer family destruction zone. Dr. Phil would suggest, Go home and have an honest chat with the person who really needs to hear it.”

The course’s owner, who goes by the name Kiwi, later told Fox News that “This isn’t the kind of hole-in-one we encourage.” We guess, pun intended. Several fans were in stitches after the incident, with some funny comments gracing the post.

Fans jibe at the hilariousness of the incident.

One fan was waiting for all the comments and further deliberations to take place. He replied with the famous GIF of Michael Jackson eating popcorn as he awaited all hell to break loose in the comment section, just like the owner said. Another user also seemed to be on board, stating that the gossip is hookworthy, stating, “Ooohhh, this tea is hot!”

What’s your perspective on:

Did the golf course owners go too far, or is public shaming the best deterrent for affairs?

Have an interesting take?

The choice of the parking lot is an odd one. Especially considering that there are various accessible and not-so-public spaces available, as one user commented that “there is a hotel less than 100 feet away”.  The chances of a hotel posting an Instagram post threatening to expose the footage are ridiculously low.

The situation is indeed comical. The couple was first noticed by the maintenance crew, who were present in the morning. The black and silver cars pull up and park in the far corner of the lot behind the recycling bins, happening once a week until the club has enough. “Everyone’s about to park there now,” commented one user, indicating that it could be a preferred spot for young couples from now on.

The fact that no name has been mentioned in the post is going to create a bigger problem. As one user detailed, husbands whose wives have black cars will be brimming with suspicion, causing another chain of unfortunate events to take place. “This is hilarious. How many husbands with a 30s wife who owns a black car keep showing up hoping to catch them in the act, lol? I love the balls it took to post this.”

What do you think of the situation unfolding at Concord? Did the course owners do the right thing?
