Lee Westwood might be one of the few golfers who have won tournaments and fame across the five continents. However, the decorated player’s latest action has gathered hate from the fans. He shared a video on Twitter in which he has offered fans free tickets for the inaugural LIV Golf Tournament. As expected, many fans were unhappy with the golfer’s move and his participation in the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour.

The former World No.1 was announced to be a part of the inaugural LIV Golf event at the beginning of the month. As more and more players seem to consider joining the nemesis of PGA, Westwood appeared to be quite open and happy about his participation in the event.
Lee Westwood offered 100 fans free tickets for the LIV Golf Event. The only thing they had to do was retweet his tweet using the words ‘WESTWOOD25’ to get hold of the free tickets.
However, fans didn’t seem to admire his humble offering of the Tournament’s tickets. Instead, they began ranting about their hatred toward the tournament.
The LIV Golf Tour has been under massive public scrutiny for its financial backing being provided by the Saudi Public Investment Fund. Moreover, many seemed to worry that it may damage the history and relevancy of the PGA Tour.
Fans react to the tweet by Lee Westwood
Instead of retweeting with the word ‘WESTWOOD25’, fans were quick to criticize the 49-year-old for his participation in the tournament. Many directed their anger toward the LIV Tour and Saudi Arabian human rights history, while many others aimed their anger by calling the participants greedy.
No thanks, should be a bumper crowd I expect to see this exhibition event. Out of interest how much money of this money would you swap for just one major?

No thanks. Did I hear correctly that instead of a shotgun start, the Saudis have incorporated a bone saw into the process?

No thanks I'll not bother. Hopefully nobody turns up, there's no TV contract and the thing dies a quick death.

If you have to give away 100 free tickets on the first weekend then the tournament is already a failure 😬
