Does Bland's victory signal a shift in power from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf?

First, the 2023 PGA Championship, then the 2024 Senior PGA Championship, the 2024 US Open, and now the U.S. Senior Open Championship—LIV Golf now boasts four major championships. In Newport, Rhode Island, Richard Bland claimed the Senior US Open title after forcing a playoff against Hiroyuki Fujita. However, following his victory, fans are going berserk—what’s the reason behind it?

Interestingly, this was his second major win this year. The golfer also won the 2024 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship after carding 17-under-par. However, despite his victory, Bland did not receive the usual one-year PGA Tour Champions exemption for winning the title. This was due to his decision to join LIV Golf. Following his Senior PGA Championship win, the PGA Tour stated, “In spite of the win, because of competing in an unauthorized event by the PGA TOUR, he will be ineligible for TOUR-affiliated events,” according to the Mirror website.

However, Richard Bland’s second consecutive win at the Senior Open Championship ignited excitement within the golfing community. Recently, @GolfloverUK shared a post on X, captioning, “And he does it again! Terrible day for the haters who can’t enjoy other people’s success! Well done Blandy!!” Possibly highlighting the decision the PGA Tour took to not include such a talented golfer.
