First, the 2023 PGA Championship, then the 2024 Senior PGA Championship, the 2024 US Open, and now the U.S. Senior Open Championship—LIV Golf now boasts four major championships. In Newport, Rhode Island, Richard Bland claimed the Senior US Open title after forcing a playoff against Hiroyuki Fujita. Interestingly, this was his second major win this year. The golfer also won the 2024 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship after carding 17-under-par. However, despite his victory, Bland did not receive the usual one-year PGA Tour Champions exemption for winning the title. This was due to his decision to join LIV Golf. Following his Senior PGA Championship win, the PGA Tour stated, “In spite of the win, because of competing in an unauthorized event by the PGA TOUR, he will be ineligible for TOUR-affiliated events,” according to the Mirror website.

Well done Blandy!!” Possibly highlighting the decision the PGA Tour took to not include such a talented golfer. 

Before winning back-to-back titles this year, his last victory was at the 2021 British Masters on the European Tour. This year, Bland received a special invitation from the PGA of America to compete in the over-50s tournament.
