Five years ago, Francesco Molinari tasted major glory by winning the Claret Jug at Carnoustie Golf Links. That was his last victory on European soil. On Thursday, Molinari descended upon Royal Liverpool in the hopes of returning to his winning ways, but things ended up getting off to a not-so-memorable start for the Italian pro.
On Friday, as the golfer hit his opening tee shot, the on-course mic caught him let slip a massive fart! The embarrassing mishap left fans who heard it in stitches, and has now gone viral on Twitter.

His eventual performance on the fairways wasn’t anything to rave about, either. After his first round 73 (+2), Molinari carded a disappointing 75 (+4). His score at the end of day 2 stood at 6-over 148, resulting in him missing the cut.
That’s a spicy meatball! Ouch!
Francesco Molinari may have missed the cut at Hoylake this year, but at least his first tee shot on Friday was a memorable one. Golf enthusiasts on Twitter have come up with the most hilarious reactions, with one smart-witted fan even comparing the 40-year-old’s slip-up to “grunting” in tennis.
Means that his drive was ‘wind aided’?
