Yes! The octogenarian is still active on the course. Not competitively, but one can find him practicing, his swing as beautiful as ever. Moreover, he is still striving to bring about the required change in women’s golf.
Twitter wishes Gary Player as he turns 86!
During his illustrious career, Player has won 24 times on the PGA Tour, including 9 major titles. Moreover, he has a staggering 160 professional wins to his name. Needless to say, he’s the legend of sport.
November 1st is the day of celebration for the South African and he would have commemorated another milestone in his life if not for an incident that happened earlier in the year. Tragically, his wife Vivienne passed away just a couple of months ago in August, after a battle with cancer.

Nevertheless, Player has remained optimistic and has continued making appearances. Most recently, the Saudi Golf ambassador showed up for the three-day Aramco Golf Series.
Notably, he has an incredible feat to his name. Mr. Black Knight is one of the five, and the only non-American to have won golf’s ‘grand slams’, all the majors.
Twitter united to honor the phenom
Let’s take a look at some of the wishes Player received on his birthday. Golf Digest posted a great throwback video from his previous birthday, an interview with him.
