Every golfer wants to play in the Ryder Cup and represent their country. Live the patriotic dream. But a few get to do so. While the European team will reveal its 12-man roster in September’s first week, the American team has locked down its roster. Thus initiating conversations and speculations. And who better to take charge of it than Golf Mommy, Paige Spiranac?

The whole golf world is buzzing with the upcoming Ryder Cup. Despite living on the edge for weeks, LIV golfer Brooks Koepka made it to the team. Alongside Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, Rickie Fowler, and Sam Burns, including the much-anticipated Justin Thomas. In a recent podcast discussion, Paige and her guest, a former PGA Tour pro, jumped right into a conversation about these picks. Their main point of discussion was whether there was a bias against LIV Golf in the selection. And that’s what the rest of the golf world is wondering too!

On Wednesday, the golf beauty turned to her podcast, Playing a Round with Paige, and invited the golf broadcaster, Colt Knost, for a discussion. In wondering why one player was picked over another, they addressed many speculations that the golf world itself has. And one of them is why Bryson DeChambeau was left out but Justin Thomas made the cut.

Paige recalled Zach Johnson’s recent response to not picking DeChambeau. She said to Knost, And I saw Zach Johnson talking on your show, how he said, You know, I don’t really know because I don’t get to see him play that often. But when you compare it to someone like a Justin Thomas, who also didn’t make the playoffs, and he has been playing, do you think that’s an unfair comparison where it’s like they’re both aren’t playing they’re not seeing either of them play?” Golf mommy asks if team camaraderie pushed Johnson to pick Thomas.

In a fitting reply, Knost anticipated that “LIV golfers knew when they made the decision”, that they were giving up the Ryder Cup while choosing that over the PGA tour. He also stated that Zach was himself a PGA Tour player. And it is understandable if he would not go out of his way to see LIV golfers play.

Talking about Bryson DeChambeau not making it to the team, the ex-PGA Tour star added, “Bryson obviously had a great week at Greenbrier. He shot 58 at one of the golf tournaments, finished fourth at the PGA, I believe. But other than that, like it hasn’t been that great, like, in my opinion, so ever since he’s gone to LIV, he hasn’t really played great.”

LIV golfers only had the majors to collect points for the Ryder Cup. Koepka’s T2 at the Masters and victory at the PGA Championship helped him stand in the 7th position and eventually secure a captain’s pick. DeChambeau, on the other hand, finished 54th and now will not play in Rome. However, while many fans were upset about that, the Scientist himself was nothing but gracious in the face of that tragedy!

Bryson DeChambeau’s reaction to not being the wild card

From the start, the scientist vowed to cheer for the US team, irrespective of his presence or absence. As if predicting Johnson’s reply a few weeks ago, he did acknowledge that since they do not see LIV golfers playing much, the chances of being picked are hard.

He took the high road instead of diving into the LIV and PGA Tour conflicts. But also expressed the desire to play in the Cup like any red-blooded American. But when the decision came, he swallowed it like a professional and shared a snippet of him practicing golf on Instagram. He will cheer for his LIV brother, Koepka, away from the greens.
