As per the latest report, Five-time Champion Peter Thompson’s clubs were found at the auction in Melbourne. Well, the golfer won the British Open five times, three of those times with the same set of clubs. And now his son Andrew Thompson got to learn about the clubs (Dunlop Maxfli clubs) that were at auction.

To share the news, Jarod Hitchcock took to Twitter with the caption, “Peter Thomson won three British Opens with the same clubs. His son found them at an auction.” Well, last year, Andrew (who has a handicap of 10) even played with those clubs that his dad used in 1958 when he won the Open at Lytham. He further stated, “I played Hoylake, Birkdale and Lytham with them, trying to imagine the shots he made.”

These clubs were present at a memorabilia auction in Melbourne for $1200. Moreover, the auctioneer found a logo placed beneath it with a “Claret Jug” imposed on a Union Jack. The numbers 54, 55, and 56 were also written beneath it which are the years when Thompson won the British Open.
