A glimpse of it was seen last year when Mickelson thanked Elon Musk for one of his revelations.

Phil Mickelson thanks Elon Musk for his taxes

Similar to Mickelson, Elon Musk is an avid social media user. Last year, the richest man in the world made headlines for selling 934,091 Tesla shares amounting to $963 million. Days after the sale, he took to his social media handle, revealing his taxes. “For those wondering, I will pay over $11 billion in taxes this year,” he wrote.

Considering Musk’s aura, it goes without saying that the Tweet took no time to get flooded with comments. However, the comment that took the spotlight was by the 6-time major champion. Taking to the comments section, he thanked Musk for his contribution to the country.

“Just wanted to say thank you. That’s only for the year. I can’t imagine how much you’ve paid the government over the years but thank you,” he wrote.

While the former World No. 2 has been involved in numerous incidents concerning taxes, one that tops the list is the 2016 insider trading case. As per reports, in 2016, Mickelson made close to $1 million profit through an insider trading tip.

While he enjoyed the colossal profit, little did he know that something worse was waiting for him. Following an investigation, the Securities and Exchange Commission filed a complaint against the golfer. A complaint, that demanded Mickelson to pay back the amount.
