Once regarded as one of golf’s brightest stars, Anthony Kim seemed destined for greatness. With a dazzling debut in 2006, a remarkable victory at the 2010 Shell Houston Open, and wins at the 2008 Wachovia Championship and AT&T National, he quickly became a household name. But just as swiftly as he rose, he disappeared, leaving fans to wonder what happened to the fearless, talented player. Behind the scenes, Kim was battling personal demons—struggling with substance abuse, mental health issues, and even thoughts of suicide. A devastating Achilles injury in 2012 forced him off the course, and he vanished from the sport for over a decade.
But his journey took another unexpected turn in 2024 when Kim made his long-awaited comeback to LIV Golf. However, just as he was starting to find his footing again, life threw him an unimaginable curveball. In February 2025, Kim shared an emotional Instagram post revealing a near-death experience that almost cost him everything. After a minor slip while taking out the garbage, he began to experience discomfort and numbness in his leg, dismissing it as nothing serious. But as his condition worsened—vomiting, flu-like symptoms, and growing numbness—Kim sought medical help. He was shocked to learn that he had a blood clot in his leg, putting him at risk of stroke or cardiac arrest.
Now, reflecting on the life-altering scare, Kim expressed profound gratitude for his family, his sobriety, and his health. As he recovers, he looks forward to returning to golf, but more importantly, to living. His remarkable story has captured the hearts of fans and players alike, making his comeback one of the sport’s most inspiring chapters. They have been keenly interested to know details about his comeback, and it looks like there finally is a plan revealed.

Jerry Foltz recently appeared in one of the episodes of Fairway to Heaven. When they started talking about Anthony Kim’s injury, Foltz revealed, “He felt. He felt uncomfortable or whatever. He said he wasn’t feeling good. Yeah. But he says he’s going to be okay based on what the doctors told me on Sunday. If it’s below the knee and it’s not something they think could break away and make its way to your lung, your heart, take drugs to dissolve it, he’ll get checked up before he goes.” He went on to add that there is a high chance that he might fly to Hong Kong or Singapore for his comeback. This means the star will finally make a good comeback in March.

But whether he will be able to live up to the hype or not is yet to be found. Because let’s not forget the drastic year he had in 2024 while attempting to make a comeback.

Anthony Kim’s drastic 2024 season
Anthony Kim’s return to golf began with a bang — a booming drive down the fairway. But then came the topped iron shot. And, inevitably, a bogey six. It was a fitting start to his first hole in 12 years, capturing the essence of his entire comeback: moments of brilliance mixed with the unavoidable rust. The good, the bad, and the determination to keep pushing forward.
What else could we have expected? The prodigy who once lit up the PGA Tour with three wins, a Ryder Cup victory, and an unforgettable 11-birdie round at Augusta? Or the more mature version of Anthony Kim, the one who had spent years away from the spotlight, grappling with his demons and the weight of time? While we all hoped for the former, reality had been a lot less kind.
In June 2012, after surgery on his Achilles tendon, Kim vanished from the professional scene. It wasn’t just the injury; his absence became one of the sport’s great mysteries. Rumors of a lucrative insurance policy kept him from playing, but the details were always blurry. What followed was a decade-long silence. One year without him turned into five, and five into ten. A return at that point seemed increasingly unlikely, but when the whispers began to resurface, expectations were sky-high. It had to be big, right? Something flashy to match the hype.
When he did finally come back on March 1, 2024, with LIV Golf, it wasn’t the grand spectacle everyone had imagined. Instead, it was a quiet re-entry, full of intrigue but void of fireworks. The specifics of his long absence were still unclear, leaving many wondering what had really gone on during those years. But one thing was certain: Anthony Kim was back — and this time, the journey was going to be far more than just a story of golf.
