Leading up to the Hero World Challenge, Woods made his first public statements after his single car crash in February. First with Golf Digest, and then in a press conference in Bahamas, he cleared the air around his recovery, his potential comeback, and also spoke about his experiences this past year.
Woods himself is unsure about what the future looks like as he is taking each day as it comes. He said, “I have so far to go… I’m not even at the halfway point.” So, while the confirmation of his appearance soared the hopes of fans around the world, his words deflated our hopes back in sync with the reality that Woods is, in fact, still recovering.
Is Tiger Woods’ leg giving him trouble?
Recently, TWLEGION analyzed a picture of Tiger and found something interesting. In one of them, he’s wearing his golf shoes on his left foot, and a special Nike shoe on his injured right foot. Earlier, however, he was wearing golf shoes on both his feet.
🚨Interesting pic here I noticed – wasn’t this way for the entire range session in other pics but looks like at one point he took his golf shoe off the injured right foot and put on his running shoe. pic.twitter.com/ArRwuSRTY8

While this may mean absolutely nothing- just something he does for comfort- we can’t rule out the possibility of it leading to something more serious. A little discomfort and pain, or continued precaution? What do you think?
Twitter’s opinions on the shoe change
Fans and followers on twitter formulated their theories on what could have led to him changing his shoe. Let’s take a look at some of them-
OR he may be trying to duplicate something he found at home. For example if your stance gets too wide a teacher could say “toe in line with your shirt logo”. Well if your shoes look diff, switching can give you a visual reminder.

It’s possible that the running shoe is taller. I have had some repair surgery and my leg length changed and when I am tired I notice it a lot. I change shoes when I notice it and I am sure he is much more tuned to it

Less resistance than a spike, relieves pressure when torquing the ground on his knee, exemplifies his intellect. 🐐

I switched to runners. Keeps me from over swinging. I focus on keeping my feet flat on the ground 🤷🏼♂️ Seems to work. Plus the spikes don’t dig in and cause any extra pain (for him likely)

I also noticed him wearing them on both feet in one of the range pictures from earlier this week.

Not a running shoe but still very interesting. It’s the metcon 6, a fairly stiff and firm gym shoe

This week, however, there were multiple reports claiming that Woods was seriously considering teeing it up at the PNC Championship, slated to be played next week. If this turns out to be true, then we sincerely hope his leg has his back.
