 Phil Mickelson has made some very impressive achievements in his career that he can proudly boast of. But through gambling addictions, he has ended up tainting his legacy to an extent. In fact, there was a time when things got so out of control that the authorities from the PGA Tour has to intervene.

Though things have remained quiet for some time now, Mickelson’s old habits are soon about to unravel in a new book by the man who has been by his side for the last many years was by Phil’s side as he made bet after bet. After the news became viral fans are irritated and displeased with the LIV defector.

Old friend unleashes the gambling repercussions of Phil Mickelson’s gambling addictions

According to reports in the last three decades, the Lefty has bet more than $1 billion in different sports like football, basketball, and baseball. Moreover, he has also attempted to make efforts for a $400,000 wager on Team USA in the 2012 Ryder Cup, an event he was playing at. 

These and other gory details of Phil’s gambling addiction habits are mentioned in an upcoming book “Gambler: Secrets from a Life at Risk,” by American entrepreneur, Billy Walters. But besides being an entrepreneur, Billy was also the gambling partner of Mickelson who unraveled many dark secrets of Phil’s gamblings in his upcoming book. 

According to Walters Mickelson made 858 bets of $220,000 and 1,115 bets of $110,000 between 2010 to 2014. He has bet $110,000 to win $100,000 in total and suffered massive losses in the past decades.

From time to time this news has also surfaced in the public. In 2015, his name appeared in court documents in a money laundering case that said that nearly $3 million was transferred from him to an intermediary of “an illegal gambling operation.” In 2021, before his appearance at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, The Detroit News released a story about his name in a court document related to a mob bookie in a 2007 trial. While Mickelson will have to answer a lot of questions once the book is released, the fans right now are unhappy with this news.
