When an athlete retires from their sport, it is usually done with family in mind. Such was the case with Annika Sorenstam, as she made an early retirement to focus on the same and start her business. Although she made a small comeback into the game during the 2021 Senior Women’s Open, her retirement continues on.

However, plans rarely work out, especially for a golfer, or in this case, an ex-pro golfer like Sorenstam. Well, the 53-year-old has gone ahead to miss out on a special occasion—during her retirement, no less! But this time, it’s a big one, as it involves her family.

The professional has been absent from the greens since the legend retired from the game on May 13, 2008. However, a post by her husband might have left the LPGA legend contemplating her choices as she missed her daughter’s dance.

A tweet was shared by Mike McGee on his social media handle showcasing how the couple’s daughter is going on “her first homecoming dance.” He also went ahead to point out how the golfer was going to miss the same owing to her flight to Las Vegas.

The 10X major winner was traveling to the City of Lights to attend a “Share My Passion” clinic conducted by the Annika Foundation, her charity that aims to empower women through golf. Although the managing director of the ANNIKA brand of businesses was regretful of the ex-pro’s absence from the special moment, he was quick to “appreciate the sacrifices” Sorenstam makes for the family.

It takes a strong woman to balance her work and personal life. The 72-time LPGA champ made the tough choice of retiring to start a family and engage in her own business, which led her to immense success in the same.
