Golf is among the most peaceful of all sports. While hot-head conversations sometimes take place between players in certain cases, rarely has there been a case of physical violence on the greens.

However, recently such a shocking story came to light where a golf course had to witness violence and even death. But not of a person but of an animal. An otherwise calm and composed game of golf turned into a horror show when some people in New York City witnessed a man displaying a barbaric activity of fatally harming a creature.

Man accused of implementing mortal harm to Canadian Goose at golf course

According to a story by Golf Week, USA Today, a Carmel man has been accused of beating a Canada Goose to death at the New York golf course with a golf club. The incident took place at Putnam County Golf Course in Mahopac, close to the 14th hole.

The man has been charged with animal cruelty. After environmental officials received the news of the beating of the Goose action was taken by the Putnam County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

According to an official report, the state Department of Environmental Conservation police has sent him a summon and the man will be appearing in the Town of Carmel Court on 12th September.

Witnesses reported the accused displaying disturbing behavior on the course

As per the statement, witnesses reported that they saw a man striking a Canada Goose with a golf ball after which the animal passed out. After that, in a show of utmost cruelty, the man hit the bird with his club until it died.

Immediately action was taken by the Putnam SPCA officers who responded to a call by state DEC Police on the matter. Staff and witnesses present on the site were interviewed for information.

This indeed is a display of very inhumane behavior on the part of the man who showed his strength on an animal that couldn’t even fight for its life. The punishment for his saddening crime will be decided once he appears in court.
