Phil Mickelson has been often criticized for chasing money throughout his career. His most recent move to the LIV Golf Series had a contract worth $200 million, which further beefed up the conversation. Recently, social media star Paige Spiranac expressed her opinion and drew comparisons with NFL legend, Aaron Rodgers.

What did Paige Spiranac say about Phil Mickelson’s obsession with money?

In her latest episode of the podcast ‘Playing a Round With Paige Renee’, the ex-golfer drew parallels over Phil Mickelson and Aaron Rodgers. When questioned about the pair’s constant urge to make more money, Spiranac mentioned how the two had a similar goal yet were different from each other.

“I feel there’s a slight difference that Phil is very money-driven, and he wants the money,” she said on her podcast. “I don’t know if that goes back to some of his personal issues.”

“But with Aaron Rodgers, I don’t think it’s all about the money for him. I think it’s a respect issue where he feels highly disrespected by the Packers,” she continued.

Aaron Rodgers plays for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL). There were reports which indicated the four-time MVP had pushed for a hike in his salary, which will reportedly earn him around $50 million a year on a three-year contract basis.

Is Phil Mickelson really obsessed with money?

Once carrying the notion of a common man who made it big in golf, Mickelson’s legacy was left in tatters after his move to LIV Golf. The highest-paid golfer on the planet has never been the same since, missing key tournaments and displaying dismal performances in the following LIV series.

However, it is key to note that Mickelson runs his own charity, the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation, which focuses on supporting a variety of youth and family initiatives. He is also been known for his generous tipping to fans throughout his career. His gratuity towards hotel staff and golf course members is also charitable – it’s fair to say he puts the money to good use.
