The talk of Netflix’s upcoming documentary series, Full Swing, has already captured the imagination of golf enthusiasts. The show is expected to romp up viewers and increase publicity by following in the footsteps of F1’s ‘Drive to Survive series, which has amassed considerable fanfare.

But if the recent events are to go by, the golf documentary will be packed with entertainment and drama after the changing landscape with the arrival of the LIV Golf Series. Several stars, many of whom shot their scenes for the show, have switched to the Saudi-backed league. The documentary promises to divulge into what has been a tumultuous year for golf and has left many eager, including a certain Justin Thomas.

Justin Thomas “excited” to watch Netflix’s golf series

The trailer for the newly launched series dropped last week and created an instant buzz among netizens. Amongst those was PGA pro Justin Thomas, who was eager to catch on to the action from last year’s rollercoaster season.

And why wouldn’t he? Last year turned out to be a positive one for the 29-year-old. Thomas captured the second major championship of his career with a victory in the 2022 PGA Championship.

As a “golf fan”, Thomas was willing to relive last year’s hiatus and revealed how Netflix couldn’t have asked for better content after recent incidents. “Maybe [Netflix] just knew something that we didn’t. It is mind-blowing when it started at the beginning of the year and the amount of storylines just through players and what they’re trying to accomplish,” he said.

Thomas also expressed how the series would grow golf’s fanbase to extraordinary levels, something which was plainly visible with Netflix’s F1 series. “Everyone who’s a big golf fan will enjoy that side, whereas other people that have maybe never heard of even par before will learn what that is,” Thomas said. “I think that’s what’s very unique about it.”
