After last week’s Buick Open, this week the LPGA is hosting the BMW Ladies Championship in Busan South Korea where top female golfers have assembled to vie for the first prize. The competition is going to be hard thanks to the presence of some big names like Lydia Ko, Nelly Korda, and Jin Young Ko.

However, for Korda, it is not just this competition but other important events that are on her radar and she has been searching for the right moment to seize. Next year she wants to compete again in the grandest competition of them all.

Nelly Korda is competing for the first time since playing in the Solheim Cup last month. Though her team lost, her individual performance was not too bad with two wins and two losses. And with that being done and dusted, she has set her eyes on bigger goals. This week she is participating in the BMW Ladies Championship and is prepared for a big fight.

At the same time, Korda is prepping her mind for a big milestone that is to come next year, the Olympics. On Tuesday, during the presser for the BMW, she was asked about it by an interviewer: “The Olympics is just around the corner. It’s next year? If you are looking to take part in the Olympics and if you do so, then how will you approach it?”

Korda answered, “I like to stay very present. So what is in front of me is this week and that’s what I’m focused on. Obviously in my career, that was definitely one of the biggest highlights, and being able to stand on the podium and earn a Gold Medal was a huge honor and something that I’ll look back at for the rest of my life.

“If I do get to represent my country for one more time, I think I’m going to jump for it. There was nothing like it. As for that question, I’ll handle it when we get to it.”

Her struggles this year have been manifold but she is fighting hard. Though she is focused on the job at hand presently, she would pounce on another Olympic opportunity. The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris.

In 2021, Nelly Korda won gold in the Women’s Golf Competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She finished the final round with panache and carded two under par 69 with a total of 17 under for the competition.

She achieved her aim with the help of three consecutive birdies in the final round. About the win, she said: It’s crazy. It sounds absurd that I’m a gold medal winner and I’m an Olympian. I don’t know it just hasn’t sunk in yet.”

Like everyone else, she bit her Medal after wearing it on the stage. It was an enthralling experience of a lifetime and Korda would love to live it again.
