The Ryder Cup is the most distinguished international event of all. And this time it has chosen the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club as its venue, where the match will tee off on September 29th. After last year’s exclusion of LIV players from the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup, this year’s scenario has changed quite a bit. And the alteration is that if the LIV players can make their place in the Ryder Cup through the points system or as the captain’s pick, then they still stand a shot.
As the preliminaries for the tournament are at their peak, one of the LIV defectors, Sergio Garcia, made an honest confession about the Ryder Cup ahead of the $25 million LIV Golf Bedminster event.

The Ryder Cup is a very anticipated event, and one definitely hopes to participate in it. For a golfer like Sergio Garcia, who has represented his country in the Ryder Cup tournament ten times and has an overall record of 25-13-7, it seems very unusual that he wouldn’t be a part of the biennial event this year.
Thus, Garcia made an unnerving confession at the Trump National Golf Club Fireballs GC Press Conference. When asked about Jon Rahm missing his friend in the European Team of Ryder Cup, the one-time major winner answered, ”Yeah, we’ve talked a lot about it, him and I. Obviously, yeah, everyone knows how much I love the Ryder Cup and the bonds that we’ve been able to build and are created in those Ryder Cups. Obviously, Jon is no different. We had a great time. We obviously are good friends, and our friendship kind of got even stronger after the last Ryder Cup.”
He highlighted the fact that he misses the Ryder Cup days and his friend Rahm as well. Also, the connections he shared with those players are undeniably strong.

He also added, “Yeah, it is going to be a shame. I will miss him, too. But hopefully he’ll find another partner that suits him, and they can do well together.” He lastly confirmed that his presence will be missed in this year’s Ryder Cup.

Sergio Garcia will miss the Ryder Cup this year
After joining LIV golf, Sergio Garcia received lucrative money to join the Saudi-backed league, and as a consequence of switching tours he was denied his DP World Tour membership. In addition to this, the circuit of players who left for the Saudi backed league were handed down fines and excluded from any of the events under the DP World Tour.
While the US Ryder Cup team still opened its doors to the LIV players only if they qualified, the European Ryder Cup team completely shut its doors for LIV defectors.
