With advancing societal developments and fast-paced lives, people are more prone to body and mental health related issues. Although mental health still remains a taboo at large, but the onset of COVID-19 pandemic did urge people into taking mental health seriously. For it, several projects have been initiated in order to prioritize mental sanity.

Optum, or United Health Group, has also gone ahead and taken an initiative to propagate the cause of mental health awareness through famous golfers like Rory McIlroy, Mariah Stackhouse, and Jessica Korda. Jessica, therefore, reflected on her concern for the same with a heartwarming statement.

Physical activity and sports often help relieve an individual’s stress and enhance their physical and mental health. While America is now at greatest risk when it comes to mental health, Optum, or United Health Group, has taken an initiative to promulgate psychological well-being through some of the famous golfing entities, one of whom is Nelly Korda’s elder sister, Jessica Korda, who has actively taken an interest in promoting mental awareness as the brand ambassador of Optum.

A post was recently shared by Optum on Instagram where McIlroy, Stackhouse, and  Korda are quoted reflecting on their thoughts about mental well-being. Jessica Korda reflected, “The more you talk to people about what you are going through on the inside, you realize you are not alone, and that makes a difference.”  She elucidated how necessary it is to express what is troubling you inside to somebody in order to find solace and not feel sequestered.

McIlroy’s stand on mental health awareness

McIlroy, who had himself previously been the victim of mental health hazards, missed the cut in the Masters Championship. When investigated, it was known that McIlroy couldn’t handle the growing pressure, and thus it took a toll on his mental well being. Now that he has become the brand ambassador of Optum, the four-time major winner also shared his thoughts on mental health: “There’s always going to be times in life when you doubt yourself; that’s when you have to turn to others for support. It’s what we should be doing. That’s how we become the best versions of ourselves.”

Thereby, contemplating the fact that if there are instances of self-doubt one should seek support from others, and that’s the pathway to becoming the best version of ourselves.
