Phil Mickelson may currently be occupied with preparation for the Saudi International, but the LIV Golf star has found some time to expose the hypocrisy of one of the biggest banks in Canada. Being the biggest voice of the Saudi-funded Tour, how did Lefty shut down the Royal Bank of Canada?
Mickelson was one of the first golfers to be vocal about his support for the lucrative Tour. While many criticized the golfer for supporting a golf Tour funded by the Saudis, the Hall of Famer stuck by his words.
After a successful inaugural season, LIV Golf looks more confident than ever. Despite that many organizations have continued to stay away from the Breakaway Tour for its controversial funding. One such company was the Royal Bank of Canada. Nonetheless, the legendary golfer had some words to expose the bank.

Phil Mickelson calls out RBC’s hypocrisy
It all began when Score Bets’ journalist Eric Patterson revealed that players sponsored by Royal Bank of Canada will not be allowed to use the company’s badge for the upcoming Asian Tour’s Saudi International. The sponsored golfer, Cam Young, despite being a PGA Tour player, was rejected from using their sticker.
According to Patterson, the RBC wants nothing to do with their players in Saudi Arabia. However, the notable Twitter account NUCLR Golf shared a news article that revealed the Royal Bank of Canada played a key role in being the book-runner of Saudi Arabia’s biggest petroleum company, Aramco during its IPO in 2019.
As the RDC’s forgotten truth was unveiled, LIV Golf’s biggest name came online on Twitter to throw shade at them. Mickelson mocked the Canadian bank by tweeting, “RBC was part of the team that brought Aramco public and they made many $ millions on the deal. The hypocrisy is astounding”.
