She first reflected on her exhilarated feelings on being back, “It’s always nice to come back to a USGA championship. You guys do such a good job. This tournament has a special place in our family’s heart, so great to be back.”
Then in the interview, when the moderator asked Sorenstam about her experience of having her family being there at the tournament, she said, “You will see them and you will hear them. They love the tournament atmosphere, I guess. Just growing up a golfing family… me playing, so they love the atmosphere.” Annika highlighted the fact that her family is related to golf closely as a profession, thus, they quite enjoy the buzz on the field.
In addition to that, she even exclaimed, “Ava, I think she’s getting into that tournament feel. She just thinks it’s a lot of fun, or maybe it’s because they want to miss school, I’m not really sure which one, but I’m going to go with the first one, that they want to see me play.” Thus, the 97 times professional winner, gave out an undisguised revelation about her daughter.

In the first round of the US Women’s Open, Sorenstam had plenty of unsuccessful bogeys. Thus, sealing her score at 8-over par at the end of the round.
