Tiger Woods is making constant efforts to be the best father for his son, Charlie. In several interviews, the golfer has talked about everything he learned from his old man. And that is how he uses some of Earl Woods’ methods to deal with situations between him and his 13-year-old. However, despite the golf legend talking so much about his father, only a few fans really know Earl Woods’ perspective. And he once opened up about the time he had his first drink with Tiger.
When Tiger Woods had his first drink with his dad
The relationship between Tiger Woods and his father was like most fathers and sons. While his dad used to spend hours helping him out with golf, he was busy being a naughty kid. However, as the golfer grew up, no one could have imagined how great he would turn out to be.

Like all fathers, Woods’ dad also wished for his boy to be remarkably successful in his career. But due to the golf star’s hard-working schedule, he could hardly ever spend much time around his family after turning pro. However, there was a time when Woods made the first move to strengthen his relationship with his dad.
In an old interview from 2002, Earl Woods talked about the time when he sipped alcohol with his superstar son for the first time. According to the golfer’s father, Tiger Woods never had a drink before going to Stanford. And it was during Thanksgiving when the former world champion came home and asked Sr. Woods, “What are you drinking Pop?”.

“I said a Pepsi and he said, “Give me that.” He went and fixed me a drink in the kitchen – a Jack Daniels and ginger – and then he comes back in the room and says “Come on Pop, let’s have our first drink together,” the Green Beret recalled. He added how he walked down to the park with his son and sat down to enjoy the most precious time of his life.

“That’s the one Jack Daniels and ginger I will always remember.” Sr. Woods said. The golf ace, after making tons of records, has been spending a lot of time with his son Charlie. Not only is he being a great father to the Jr. golfer, but also his golf coach. Woods often recalls how his dad used to be strict with him during their golf lessons together. But he tried avoiding that with his son and wants to have a comfortable and friendly relationship with him.
