Rory McIlroy, the currently ranked world number one, is one of the most skilled golfers to play the sport. The 33-year-old has been looming at the top of the leaderboard for the last decade. While the golf community knows him for the legendary golfer he is, the tennis community knows him for a different reason. In 2011, Rory was dating tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.
Rory McIlroy and Caroline’s Relationship

Rory and Caroline began their relationship in 2011. They met at a boxing match, a fight between David Haye and Wladimir Klitschko in Germany. The two were sitting beside each other and felt an instantaneous connection.

Less than 3 years after they began dating, on New Year’s Eve, Rory popped the question, and Wozniacki said yes.

The duo had become a power couple during their time together, both ranking at the top of their sports. They also seemed to have a very public and exciting relationship. During their relationship, Rory once posted a photo of Caroline sleeping. Caroline responded with a photo of him on Instagram and tweeted, “Just getting my revenge…”

Despite their fun relationship, things didn’t last too long for the Irish golfer and the Danish tennis star. A few days after their wedding invitations rolled out, Rory called up Caroline and ended things with her. He wrote, “The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails.”

It has been more than 8 years since the couple went their separate ways. The four-time major champion got married to Erica Stoll in 2017. The couple also has a 2-year-old daughter, Poppy Kennedy McIlroy. Caroline Wozniacki too went on to marry NBA star David Lee and have a daughter, Olivia, as well.

Rory McIlroy has been atop the world rankings leaderboard since 2014. He has been in and out of the first rank and currently sits there. The 23-time PGA Tour winner has been doing quite well in recent times. He won the CJ Cup in South Carolina in late October of this year.
