The Mizuho Americas Open didn’t go as planned for Kiwi superstar Lydia Ko, who failed to make a considerable impact at the tournament. For someone who has been deemed a favorite at every event, the 26-year-old finished on par to make it to the final round.

Hours after her display, Ko thanked her legion of fans for all the support she had received throughout the weekend. But while others would be bashed for their displays, Ko was heartwarmingly blessed by her supporters.

The week’s performance was a repeat of Ko’s match play at the Cognizant Founders Cup, where she huffed and puffed her way toward a T42 finish. While she managed to shoot par, the former World No. 1 was nowhere near her best, which led to a sad finish.

More than anyone else, Ko felt the need to acknoledge the support she received during the week. She took to social media to post an appreciative message for the tournament organizers and, of course, host Michelle Wie West herself.

Like every other athlete in the world, golfers are also subjected to harsh criticism after a bad day at work. But thanks to the charm held by Ko, fans were quick to subdue any severe feelings towards the LPGA superstar.

Furthermore, many applauded the 26-year-old for giving onlookers a good day of golf. “My wife and I walked with your group on Friday-my first LPGA tournament- thanks for making it memorable- it was more impressive watching you live. It was also cute that your mom brought snacks for you after the 8th hole,” a comment said. “Thank you so much for being so nice to me this week! Enjoyed it,” said another.
