Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau are reportedly friends. The startling revelation comes after the former answered some of his fans’ questions on social media, which included one on his present status with his once-nemesis. While it comes as an unexpected development, what caused the two golfers to subside their differences?

The two former major championship winners were at loggerheads since Koepka’s infamous eye-roll at the PGA Championship, which fueled the fire in an already boiling pot. There have been many jibes and feuds since, but the enmity subsided after Team USA’s Ryder Cup victory at the Whistling Straits, where the two were teammates.

But the arrival of LIV Golf changed everything, including, pitting Koepka and DeChambeau in the same boat. Yet, the pair never publicly announced their reconciliation, until today.

In the brief clip that has gone viral on the internet, Koepka is asked whether there was any lingering tension between him and DeChambeau. His answer? “We squashed. We’re good,” he revealed.

Furthermore, the 4-time major championship winner revealed that he was on a daily talking basis with DeChambeau. “I actually talk to him quite frequently because of what’s going on here with LIV… pretty much on every other day basis,” he said.

“We’ve got good, open-minded communication. We’ve figured it all out and we’re good,” Koepka reiterated.

How did the animosity between Koepka and DeChambeau begin?

The earliest origin of the pair being discontent with each other was at the Dubai Desert Classic in January 2019. Taking an indirect swipe at DeChambeau over his slow play, Koepka was left unpleased.

It started out with the to-and-fro of jabs on social media, which were continued in press conferences and media coverage. The fans loved the newfound rivalry in the sport and it soon gained enough traction, something which neither golfer refused to back down on. It eventually culminated in an edition of ‘The Match’, where the two played against each other.
