The recipe for being great in a certain field is very simple: it requires a lot of perseverance, a positive mindset, and regular repetition of tasks. When someone is on the path to greatness, there are no shortcuts, no diversion, and no room for excuses. There are very few who achieve the pinnacle in their field because it is hard to keep up with the procedure mentioned above.

Tiger Woods deserves all the accolades since he has climbed that elusive ladder. And now that junior Woods, Charlie has stepped into the same field, Tiger, by his own admission, imitates his father when it comes to preparing his son for the challenges ahead. But how did Woods develop a certain mindset? Well, all thanks to his father’s brutal methods.

Dark Confession from Earl Woods

In the absence of his father on the golf course, Charlie is now the flagbearer of the Woods clan. His recent Notah Begay III National Championship win has generated a lot of buzz. And the win could be attributed to his father’s strange training methods.

Tiger employs a few strange techniques to strengthen Charlie’s game. He continually diverts his son’s attention and encourages him to put up a mental wall. “If I can’t get into his head, then no one else can get in there either.” However, one could wonder why Tiger can’t just be a nice, pampering father. Because that’s exactly what Earl, Tiger’s father, did. Yes, that’s where Tiger has learnt it from.

Motivational speaker John Ramirez shared a video of Earl on his Instagram page. Earl made it very apparent how he would divert Tiger when he was about to swing. ”As he is beginning to swing, I will drop my whole bag of clubs, and he will stop. And he would start again; I’d throw a dozen golf balls in front of his ball; he’d stop again,” said Earl. ”And I’d say we have to complete this round in 4 hours, so either hit or get off the course. And then he would stripe it; he just hit it perfect.”

Mental resilience is important for all athletes to master the inner voice of doubt and to ignore all kinds of outer burdens. Heroes are created not just in their own hometowns but also in the land of their foes. A few days ago, Charlie Woods also made a touching confession about his father.

The big victory Charlie notched up earlier this week… he shared with his father. Tiger was the caddie for the junior Woods. The win must be surreal for both of them, especially for Tiger, because he got the opportunity to witness his son in action from so close.

For Charlie, this was a moment that he will cherish forever. Since Tiger Woods is out of golfing action for a while, it has given him a massive opportunity to keep his son company on and off the course. Charlie can’t complain. “It’s great; we just stay in our own little world,” said the 14-year-old golfer.
