Things got a bit out of hand at the Memorial Park Golf Club a couple of hours ago. As the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open was coming to a close, the last few groups experienced a series of bizarre incidents on the course. It all started with a rogue turtle on the 15th green when Rory McIlroy‘s group was playing. The feral reptile embarked on a journey from one side of the water body surrounding the green to the other. It nearly bumped into McIlroy’s ball that was lying close to the middle and near his pathway. In the end, one of the caddies picked up the green invader as it let out a whiz, fearing the human that was transporting it to the edge of the flowing water.

The group moved on and completed the round in the next few minutes. But the drama shifted to the last group of the day, one involving Min Woo Lee, Alejandro Tosti, and Ryan Fox. They were coming off some heat when Lee took ten minutes to hit a ball from a tough spot on the 8th hole. Many in the community criticized the Australian for wasting time, despite the impossible situation he was stuck in. But Tosti was having none of it, and he made sure to leave an example to fight back against Lee’s actions.

For the remainder of the round, the Argentinian was accused of purposely playing slow and causing delays. A few strokes away from his groupmate from Australia, Tosti seemed to have triggered a few who have always heard him speak against slow players. On-course reporter and Justin Thomas‘s former caddie, Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay, also chimed in on the situation, saying, “I don’t know what’s going on, but Tosti is playing at his own pace. At times, it’s normal. At times, it’s glacially slow. But he’s decided on this particular hole to really take his time, and he’s holding up play in this last group.” His comments were directed towards the South American wasting time walking far behind his groupmates on the fairway.

At this point, Tosti seemed to have had enough. Mckay’s statement didn’t sit well with him as he tweeted “Bones talking sh*t for the fans. Saying l am walking 50 yards behind and “trying to slow playing my partner”. The part you don’t see is that l used the restroom and prepared myself a drink.” The 28-year-old’s explanation seemed valid. Especially considering how the focus should have been on Min Woo Lee wasting 10 minutes over one stroke. He also clarified that Ryan Fox didn’t have any issue with him taking a short break.

The fans took a liking to Alejandro Tosti’s response. They also joined the conversation in support of the national Argentinian. Here’s what they said:

Netizens back Alejandro Tosti against Justin Thomas’ ex-caddie

Being extremely vocal about slow play, Alejandro Tosti definitely didn’t enjoy his time playing in the group with Min Woo Lee. Hence, his actions to possibly frustrate the Australians seemed justified to the fans. One of them commented, “Team Tosti! Battling slow play one grouping at a time!” The Argentinian’s actions seemed valid to them; it seems that other slow players might fear being grouped with him in the future.

Another believed that the 28-year-old made the boring pace of play a lot more entertaining for everyone. They said, “Love it! Tosti brings some spice to a somewhat bland period right now.” Hopefully, slow players like Lee would be aware of the Tosti-ng the Australian received courtesy of the Argentinian.

The Rosario local also received some sympathy from the community. As one of the fans stated, “I’m on your side, AT! Nobody should have to suffer rounds that slow.” Ten minutes of just standing around waiting for your group mate to score can be torturous for anyone. Thankfully, Tosti found a way to entertain himself and the fans for the remainder of the round.

There was someone who had much to say about Bones as they showed their support for the PGA Tour pro. They commented, Bones is a jealous hack! You were all class during and after the round. Funny he had nothing critical to say about Min Woo taking 30 min to play the 8th 🤔🤔🤔 Do not listen to the haters Mr. Tosti! Real fans of golf stand with you!” The biased views about both players put Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay in a bad light. Another fan also wrote, “Get his a** Tosti.” Hopefully, after all the backlash, Justin Thomas’s former caddie will also learn from this incident.

And if Alejandro Tosti is looking for some motivation, then the community has plenty of that to offer as well. A fan mentioned, “Dont let the dirty b*****ds bring you down Mr. Tosti!! Much respect brother.” They, like many others, want Tosti to continue fighting the good fight against slow play. He will always have the support of the fans as long as he does the right thing.
