The LPGA is set to host the International Crown in a few days for the first time since 2018. However, ahead of the biennial tournament, Team England’s winning chances have gotten into jeopardy as they suffered a devastating loss before the International event by two of its biggest stars.
The Hanwha LifePlus International Crown will be staged on May 4-7 at San Francisco’s TPC Harding Park. The team event will comprise eight national teams of four players each, who will compete in the match-play format.
The winning team will win the $500,000 prize money, with each player receiving $100,000 each. Nonetheless, just three days before the commencement of the much-awaited tournament, the English team received bad news from their players.

Tough times for the English before the LPGA event

However, earlier today, Hall and Hull, who were the face of the English team, reportedly withdrew from the event. Both golfers competed at this past week’s JM Eagle LA Championship where Hall finished tied for 44th position while Hull ended the LPGA event at T-17.
While the 2018 Women’s British Open Georgia Hall is already an established golfer, Charley Hull’s career is also on the horizon. Both golfers were expected to lead Team England to their maiden International Crown. However, with their withdrawal, it has put the officials in a tough position. Nonetheless, as both English stars are among the best talents on the professional circuit currently, they must have had a reason to withdraw.

Why did Hall and Hull withdraw?
Following their exit before the commencement of the team event, Hall and Hull spoke to Golfweek. According to reports, Georgia Hall hurt her left foot in the past few weeks due to running too much on concrete without any warm-up. “I’ve been getting treatment on it every day, and he advised I need to rest it before it gets any worse”, claimed Hall.

While she is set to miss the International Crown, Georgia is expected to compete at next week’s Cognizant Founders Cup. Meanwhile, her fellow teammate Charley Hull, who has represented Team England twice in the past, also stated of not feeling well after the JM Eagle LA Championship and hopes to see a doctor very soon. However, Hull did have some words for Team England as she said, “I wish the others good luck, and sorry I couldn’t be there”.
