Gary Player is a former South African professional golfer. The 86-year-old had won 24 PGA Tour titles and 118 International championships throughout his entire career. Gary Player and Vivienne Verwey were married for 64 years before he lost her to cancer last year; Vivienne had pancreatic cancer. Player himself posted a letter on Twitter in which he informed his fans about her demise.

In the letter, Gary added that he was 14 when he met the love of his life. He further added how Vivienne supported him and looked after their children while he was away playing golf. He concluded the letter with an emotional line, “I believe it will also be so when we are finally together again. Until then, I will miss my Viv dearly.”

Like his last letter to his wife, the golfer misses her every day. But, he does it more now, since it is the first time Gary is celebrating his wedding anniversary without his better half part.

Nobody can imagine what the golf legend might be feeling on his first wedding anniversary without his wife in 65 years. Expressing his emotions, Gary posted a note on his Twitter. He added a sweet old picture of them together with a note. 

Fans and well-wishers filled the comment section with positive messages for him.

Since it was a sad time for Gary, many took this opportunity to thank him for all the things he had done for the fans.

Some fans prayed for having a love life as pure and as long as Gary and Vivienne had.

Undoubtedly, Gary and Vivienne had a love story for the ages. Although she is not with him right now, she has left over 70 years of memories with Gary to live by. We send Gary our best wishes in these trying times.
