The 2024 BMW PGA Championship is underway at Wentworth Golf Club. The world’s top golfers vie for glory, and among the contenders is Tommy Fleetwood. The British golfer completed the first round of the event with an impressive 3-under 69. However, as the tournament heats up, attention shifts to an unexpected star on the driving range—one who’s stealing hearts with every swing.

And that star is none other than Franklin Fleetwood, the golfer’s six-year-old son, who is adorable if we might add. The little wizard is winning over fans with his remarkable golfing talent and irresistible charm. A video shared by the DP World Tour’s official X handle revealed the young golfer’s focus and skill, leaving onlookers in awe. As the video started, he ran with his clubs in hand, straight to his spot on the range. Fleetwood Jr. put the clubs down and started hitting those balls, his swings smooth and confident.

The video then focused on Francesco Molinari, who was also practicing alongside the young prodigy. As the six-time European Tour winner witnessed Frankie’s impressive technique, his eyes lit up with admiration.Wow! Molinari exclaimed, clearly stunned by the six-year-old’s skill. Taking it a step further, the 41-year-old humbly asked him for guidance on gripping the golf club, sparking a heartwarming exchange.

He happily demonstrated expertise beyond his years. But soon, his ball supply dwindled, and with an innocent grin, heborrowed’ one from Molinari’s basket. The Italian golfer chuckled, teasing, You like my Callaways, huh? You prefer Callaway to TaylorMade?”. Frankie’s quick response, What else can I use? I’ve got no other balls, left Molinari in stitches.

Just then, Billy Horschel strolled onto the range. The American golfer’s eyes widened as he watched the six-year-old’s impressive swings. Frankie, unfazed by the attention, continued his practice session, earning nods of approval from Horschel, who couldn’t resist joining in on the fun and offered words of encouragement and tips to Fleetwood Jr.

One fan enthusiastically commented, “Gripping down like the old man ⛳️,” pointing out the striking resemblance between Franklin’s and his father’s grips. Tommy Fleetwood’s grip is one of the hallmarks of his game, known for its precision and lightness. His classic overlapping grip, also called the Vardon grip, has been praised by many for its balance and control. Fans couldn’t help but notice how young Franklin was already adopting his father’s impeccable technique, drawing parallels between the two Fleetwoods. Another fan echoed the same sentiment, saying, “Just like a dad @TommyFleetwood1 a proper diamond.” Clearly, Franklin’s golfing style, down to his grip, shows that he’s following in his father’s footsteps. Transitioning from technique to future potential, one fan speculated, “‘On the tee, representing Europe at the 2035 Ryder Cup, Frankie Fleetwood’ .” This comment takes back to Tommy Fleetwood’s breakout performance at the 2018 Ryder Cup, where he partnered with Francesco Molinari in an iconic pairing. Fleetwood has since represented Europe in multiple Ryder Cups, helping to secure victories in 2018 and 2023. Fans are already imagining the young fella’s future in the game. Picturing him donning the European colors and continuing his father’s legacy at golf’s premier team event.

It wasn’t just his grip that caught fans’ attention; Frankie’s calm and collected demeanor also earned praise. One fan remarked, “What a cool kid. Future star,” while another gushed, “He’s fabulous… what a great boy… chip off the old block, Tommy…🥰.” Franklin’s ability to remain focused, even in the presence of professional golfers like Francesco Molinari and Billy Horschel, speaks volumes about his potential. Much like his father, who is known for his calm under pressure, the six-year-old seems to possess the same poised attitude. That could serve him well if he continues to pursue golf.

However, not every fan was entirely optimistic. One user pointed out the weight of expectation on Franklin’s shoulders, saying, “Great to see any little guy hitting it, but it’s hard not to feel a bit sorry for the son of a top-tier golfer. The odds of them getting anywhere near where Dad is/was are essentially zilch.” This comment reflects the pressure often faced by children of famous athletes, who are frequently compared to their accomplished parents. We’ve seen this dynamic play out in other sports as well, like when Jack Nicklaus‘ sons or Charlie Woods attempted to carve out their own golfing careers. But they couldn’t escape the long shadow of their father’s legendary accomplishments.
