The rivalry between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf has taken a new turn now. The future of golf, Cameron Smith, has joined LIV Golf by accepting their 9-figure offer. He explained his reasons and made a statement about the rivalry.

Cameron Smith shocked the golf world by accepting the LIV Golf offer. His form has been great, and he has been winning all his tournaments recently. As the future is in front of our eyes, he thinks things need to be changed. You cannot go the same old way in the new world.

He said, “I think it’s been the same for a very, very long time, and it needs to be stirred up a little bit, I think this [54-hole team events] are the future of golf. I think it needs to change. Particularly as golf fans become younger, I think we need to do something to make it exciting for them.”

Why Cameron chose LIV Golf?

Smith is the World No.2 right now and also the reigning Open champion. He will play his first game as a LIV Golf member at The International this week. People might think that he chose LIV for more money, but according to him, it was much more than money.

The reason for him choosing LIV Golf was because he believes that golf needs a change. It needs a shake-up from its 72-hole to individual stroke-play roots. Change is the part of life. Not just this, there is another reason for him choosing LIV Golf, which is way more important than anything else. It’s his family. He says that by joining LIV, He will get more opportunity to spend time at home in Australia. He might even have one or two events there.
