News about Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s tech-savvy League being postponed to 2025 has, of course, been a hard pill to swallow for the fans and all other anticipators—and reactions from each corner have been different. 

Amid this buster, the founders’ approach towards the postponement has turned some heads. Woods and McIlroy have made some statements regarding the 2025 push, and their positive attitude towards the whole caboodle has taken the golf world by surprise.

After announcing the 2025 postponement of the scheduled 2024 TGL events, a slew of statements have been posted by the “Key TGL Constituents”—Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Anthony Noto CEO Sofi, Rosalyn Durant ESPN VP. In these statements, Woods and McIlroy have expressed how they feel about this push of the League and what their hopes are for the future. 

“I have been a believer in TGL, and as the momentum has built this past year, I am even more excited about what this can become for the fans of the game all around the world,” Woods remarked in his statement, his expectations from TGL. Bringing in what 2025 holds in its hands for the golfer’s brainchild, the player added, “Although the events of last week will force us to make adjustments to our timeline, I am fully confident that this concept will be brought to life by our great committed players.”

McIlroy’s words have been a beacon of optimism on the fairways. The golfer, in his statement, has expressed his inner turmoil related to what has been happening with TGL. “The postponement brings mixed feelings of disappointment and excitement…We are looking forward to the Launch of TGL.” The PGA Tour Champion has mentioned that the delay has been disappointing, as expected, but nonetheless, the push will allow the TGL team to “regroup, refocus and return stronger.”
