Multiple-time champion golf player Lydia Ko has been battling a rather disappointing season this year. Unfortunately, her lack of form threatens to continue on her current LPGA tour.

Lydia Ko was the winner of the 2022 BMW Ladies Championship, and therefore the defending champion this year. The 2023 BMW Ladies Championship is being held in Wonju, South Korea, from October 19-22. While Lydia Ko is a professional golfer for New Zealand, her country of birth is South Korea. So the win now might mean something personal for her.

On the first day of the championships in South Korea, Ko spoke about her performance in an interview. She believes she “played really solid” at the onset, but that it wasn’t her finest show. “I just tried to have the best score I can, and obviously (I’m) enjoying my time in Korea,” she said. But it’s been “frustrating” for Ko, keeping in mind her past performances.

After all, she has set the bar high for herself, being a No.1 golfer at just 17 years. The 2023 Saudi Ladies International winner is now 26. Lydia Ko is not happy with the fact that in recent times her game has been a mix of some good rounds and some which have been a “little questionable”–in her words.

Although she thinks that she’s “trending in the right direction,” she said, “…it’s been frustrating at times just because I feel like it’s better, but I’m not really – I wasn’t able to bring a lot of it together. And I know like today, the scores are really low.”

Fortunately, the New Zealand golfer is optimistic about her second day at the BMW Ladies Championships 2023. She reiterated that she is “playing a lot of solid golf”. Her approach is simply “being confident and believing in myself, believing in the strategy”Lydia Ko wants to play smart and take advantage of the shorter holes. And since the BMW series is no cut event, she thinks, “It is an opportunity for you to be aggressive and maybe test a few things”.
