Have an interesting take?

On May 17, ahead of the second round of the PGA Championship, World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler was arrested outside the Valhalla Golf Course. He was driving to the course in Louisville for the Friday round at about 6:00 am when he met with a car crash. The incident ended up injuring a police officer directing traffic. The 28-year-old was detained and arrested. He was charged with felony assault.

Although he was released ahead of the round Scheffler went back to shoot an impressive 5-under despite the mental tumult the incident had caused. It did create a lot of buzz among the entire golf community. It is one of the greatest highlights of the 2024 season, and people do want insights from the incident.

Taking to this, people left comments like, “PGA championship episode gonna go crazy” and “I think Scottie getting arrested at the PGA would be of interest to the people. Wild guess though”.

On the other hand, on LIV Golf headlines were the rumors of Jon Rahm regretting his shift from the PGA Tour to the breakaway league. He was already successful in the Jay Monahan league, boasting eleven wins, and also had one of the brightest futures among the pros.

After joining the newly formed league, he struggled a lot and throughout the 2024 season, and has only bagged one win. This was one of the many reasons that his acceptance to move to LIV came as a rather shock, not just to the players, but also to the entire golf world. Although he dismissed all the rumors, a lot of his fans still believe them to be true. One of them even commented, “Don’t forget to include the episode when @jonrahm decides to rejoin the @pgatour”.

To add to the list of newly formed events on the PGA Tour, there was the Creator Classic. Ahead of the Tour Championship, the PGA Tour made its first investment on YouTube Golf. Sixteen of the most famous golf influencers, from Fat Perez to Paige Spiranac played eight holes of stroke play on East Lake’s back nine. Luke Kwon won the event. When he was putting for the victory, more than 118,000 viewers were watching live on YouTube. This speaks volumes of its fan base, and it was obvious that the audience would demand to see the behind-the-scenes of the event.

Taking to this, one of them wrote, “Awesome to hear.  The creator classic would be an interesting side story – golf+youtube has been huge over the last few years.”

Although Xander Schauffele could not bag the final victory of the Player of the Year at the Tour Championship, it is needless to say that he did indeed give Scottie Scheffler a good fight. Additionally, he also bagged two Majors in a single season – The PGA Championship and the Open Championship. Taking to this, one of them even wrote, “The final rounds from Xander Schauffele in his two major wins deserve to be recognized.”
