The LPGA Tour’s Instagram feed was just like any other sporting organization’s. Snippets from the tournaments, exclusive BTS, and interviews with golfers were mostly the updates that fans got. That was until someone at headquarters came up with the idea of letting one of their own take over their feed.

It hasn’t been 24-hours since a 31-year-old South Korean professional’s takeover of LPGA Tour’s Instagram feed. The social media-savvy golfer’s updates would make you wonder: when was the last time you saw the LPGA Tour latching onto a pop-culture phenomenon?

Yesterday, LPGA shared an update on their feed. Jenny Shin, the South Korean golfer, announced she would take over their official feed for a week. Since then, the 31-year-old gofer has been sharing updates about his day-to-day life, from going to the gym to dinner nights, taking feedback from the viewers in between. But her last update has caught everyone’s eye.

Late night thoughts”, Shin starts off on her Instagram story on the LPGA Tour. Her first thought is something that’s been around most people’s minds since Saturday morning. ‘How come Scottie Scheffler didn’t win a single match last week?’ wonders the LPGA pro.

The current No. 1 golfer had a regrettable outing at this year’s Ryder Cup. The eight-time PGA Tour winner was reduced to tears after losing their fourball match 9&7, against Europe’s two Scandinavian young guns, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg. Shin, like other USA fans, still can’t get over it.

The second thought is what has surprised most fans. “Do people actually care about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce”. She asks, perhaps rhetorically. On Sunday, Taylor Swift attended Travis Kelce’s NFL match against the New York Jets, where the Chefs beat New York in a nail-biting match. Since then, the internet has been buzzing with dating rumors involving the Grammy winner and two-time Super Bowl champion. Although, rather than pop culture gossip, she seemed more worried about the one-time major winner’s poor performance.

But amidst all the frenzy of Shin taking over LPGA’s handle, one question still lurks around the corner. Where is Nelly Korda, the poster girl of the LPGA?

Is Shin the new face, replacing Nelly Korda?

Korda’s gracious social presence was seen many times popping up on the LPGA Tour’s Instagram feed. After Solheim Cup heartbreak, however, she has withdrawn herself from the public eye.

But this time, there is no update from either LPGA or the former No. 1 herself as to when she’ll be back. After the Solheim Cup, the eight-time LPGA tour winner has missed two tournaments: the LPGA’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship and the LET’s Ladies Open de France. Incidentally, Shin bagged another top-10 finish this year after sealing the third position on the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship leaderboard.

Although Shin herself said she was only here for a week, is this a heralding of a change of guard? Will we see more takeovers from the South Korean golfer in the near future? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
